  • This is a FastForward Grant Program designed to help industry recognized short-term training courses resulting in industry credentials for high-demand professions in our region. If you have been a Virginia resident for at least the past 12 months, you may be able to take this class for 1/3 of the full tuition cost (FastForward price). Course and Certification Exam Prerequisites: 
Sitting for the industry certification exam is an expectation for FastForward programs. Therefore, you must meet SHRM eligibility criteria for the exam before registering for this course. SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP exam eligibility requirements can be found at:  https://www.shrm.org/credentials/certification/eligibility-criteria
This class meets in real-time via Zoom on the days and times listed on the class schedule. Your instructor will facilitate live online lectures and discussions on ZOOM and CANVAS platform. Reliable internet access and a Zoom-capable device are required. See Zoom Class Requirements for more details.
Candidates for the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP certifications are not required to hold an HR title and do not need a degree or previous HR experience to apply; however, a basic working knowledge of HR practices and principles or a degree from an aligned program are recommended.
Course Description:
The SHRM Certification Exam Prep is an instructor-led, interactive, comprehensive, and effective course. Offered in partnership with the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world’s largest HR membership organization devoted to human-resource management. The curriculum is designed by global subject matter experts and covers the entire SHRM BASK™. The course features a personalized path toward success with access to assessments, practice questions, learning modules, quick-start videos, study flashcards, post-tests, and an online resource center.  This course includes 35 hours of instruction, the SHRM Learning System (print and online materials), and the SHRM Exam Fee.

What is Expected:
You must attend 70% of all scheduled class hours, in addition to completing any other requirements set by the instructor.
Applicants must meet specific educational and work experience criteria at the time they submit their application in order to be eligible to sit for the SHRM-CP or SHRM- SCP exam.  SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP exam eligibility requirements can be found at:  https://www.shrm.org/credentials/certification/eligibility-criteria. 
You must apply with SHRM by the standard application deadline and sit for the SHRM Exam within the next https://www.shrm.org/credentials/certification/exam-options-fees
Important:  This course includes the SHRM Exam fee.  You are expected to sit for the exam in the 2025 First Test Window:  May 1 - July 15, 2025.  The included exam voucher is valid for this testing window only.   
Included with tuition:

The SHRM Learning System print materials and online access are assigned to students on or by the first day of class and are non-refundable once assigned. The print materials are mailed to you at the address you used when registering for the course. The course also includes the SHRM Exam Fee.
