Health services is one of the fastest growing industries after computers, and medical assisting is the sixth fastest growing job in the U.S. according to the Department of Labor. Working in a doctor’s office or clinic, clinical medical assistants help physicians carry out procedures, care for patients, perform simple lab tests, and administer medications. This 145 hour/18-week course provides students with a comprehensive learning experience. This course is designed to provide, through lecture and clinical instruction as well as online learning, a body systems approach to the role of the medical assistant. Lectures cover the anatomy, medical terminology and medical conditions pertaining to each body system. Clinical instruction in class provides hands-on training of the procedures associated with each body system. Competency is verified through a skills check-off system. Upon successful completion of the course prepares students to sit for the NHA-National Healthcareer Association CCMA-Certified Clinical Medical Assistant exam. Participants must be at least 18 years old and have earned a high school diploma or its equivalent. Must register & complete mandatory Workforce Healthcare Orientation in Canvas account. STEP 2: REGISTER FOR ONLINE "Workforce Healthcare Orientation"
STEP 3: SETUP YOUR MyVPCC ACCOUNT (or Sign-in)
- Go to VPCC.edu
- Click on Current Students
- Click on Sign in to MyVPCC
- Click Forgot Username
- Complete the password reset
- Sign-in MyVPCC using your username and password
- Choose the CANVAS button
- Select your information session or class
